This mishmash of musical acts sprinkled throughout various stages in one location was made popular of course by Woodstock in 1969.<\/p>\n Nowadays these festivals have become much more than just guitar solos and jam sessions. Today\u2019s summer music festivals include local artists, cuisine and other extracurricular activities that will surely satisfy anyone that makes their way to one of these fun filled events.<\/p>\n Here is a listing of the more noteworthy festivals rocking their way around the world that you need to check out.<\/p>\n \n New Orleans<\/strong> Jazz & Heritage Festival<\/strong> (New Orleans, Louisiana – April 23-<\/em>May 2, 2010<\/em>)<\/em>: \n Pinkpop Festival <\/strong>(Landgraaf<\/em>, <\/em>Netherlands <\/em>– May 28-30, 2010<\/em>)<\/em>: According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Pinkpop, which started in 1970, is the oldest running annual festival in the world. It is held annually over Pentecost weekend (Pinksteren<\/em> in Dutch, hence the name). This year\u2019s acts include Tom Petty, Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow, Justin Bieber, Public Enemy and 311.<\/p>\n \n Wireless Festival<\/strong> \n Lollapalooza<\/strong> (Chicago, Illinois \u2013 August 6-8, 2010): <\/em>Created by Jane\u2019s Addiction front man Perry Farrell in 1991 as a farewell tour with his band, 19 years later Lollapalooza is still going strong (although it did take a break from 1997-2003). \n(Pilton, England – <\/em>June 24-27, 2010<\/em>)<\/em>: Nicknamed Glastonbury or Glasto, this wild weekend festival held on England’s Worthy Farm not only offers top musical performances, but also many dance, comedy, theatre and circus acts. This year\u2019s lineup includes U2, Chemical Brothers, Jack Johnson, Muse, Vampire Weekend and the legendary Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n
