{"id":5366,"date":"2013-04-28T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-28T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cheapoair.com\/miles-away\/photo-essay-doings-in-dorset-england\/"},"modified":"2023-02-23T10:54:18","modified_gmt":"2023-02-23T10:54:18","slug":"photo-essay-doings-in-dorset-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cheapoair.com\/miles-away\/photo-essay-doings-in-dorset-england\/","title":{"rendered":"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/miles-away\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/2013\/4\/dorsethayden1.jpg\" alt=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" title=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" width=\"450\" height=\"340\" align=\"middle\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<strong>Dorset&#39;s Famous Arch!<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\nI recently was invited to spend a few days in the English countryside at one of my friend&rsquo;s family homes in Dorset.&nbsp; During our trip, we spent one day visiting <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worldheritagecoast.net\/place.aspx?place=25\" target=\"_blank\">Durdle Door<\/a> on the Dorset Coast, which is designated as a World Heritage Site due to its geologically historic significance providing insights from the Triassic, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/jurassiccoast.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jurassic<\/a>, and Cretaceous periods.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/miles-away\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/2013\/4\/dorsethayden2.jpg\" alt=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" title=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" width=\"450\" height=\"340\" align=\"middle\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\nDurdle Door is quite a famous landmark because of the distinct and intriguing rock arch which was formed by erosion.&nbsp;&nbsp; Visitors begin at Lulworth cove, and descend on a very steep and winding path, followed by wooden steps down to the sea level.&nbsp; The entire beach is made up of small stones, which are surprisingly more difficult to walk on than sand.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/miles-away\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/2013\/4\/dorsethayden3.jpg\" alt=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" title=\"PHOTO ESSAY: Doings in Dorset, England, IMG Cred: Sally Hayden\" width=\"151\" height=\"227\" \/>Though it was just mid-April, my friends and I decided to take a quick dip in the sea.&nbsp; Almost as soon as the waves touched my lower legs, my feet were so numb I could barely walk back to our towels!&nbsp;&nbsp; Regardless, it was a beautiful day spent partially in the sun and partially in a small cave in the side of the rock cliffs to shield us from the wind whipping through the cove.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<br \/>\nVisitors can find nearby accommodation in the town of Lulworth.&nbsp; I recommend visiting in the summer months and renting a car because the beauty of the South Western area is best seen by traveling the country roads.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nLooking to experience the countryside for yourself?
