Is your passport ready to expire soon? You may want to get it renewed as soon as possible. That's because the U.S. Department of State is upping the fees for U.S. passports and visas for foreigners on July 13.
The price of an adult passport will go from $100 to $135, plus a lovely $25 administrative fee. Passports for ages 16 and under will have to fork over $105 with the fee, up from the current rate of $85.
Passport cards,which is used as identification by U.S. travelers headed to non-U.S. destinations like the Caribbean and Canada will also cost more. Adult cards are going up from $45 to $55 and children $35 to $40. If you travel quite often than be prepared to pay as adding more pages to your passport will set you back a whopping $82!
According to a report by USA Today, "A State Department news release says the higher fees stem from a study
of how much it costs the Bureau of Consular Affairs to provide services
and that the new fee scale will "cover actual operating expenses for
the 301 overseas consular posts, 23 domestic passport agencies and
other centers that provide these consular services to U.S. and foreign
