Emirates lands A380 in Manchester
An Emirates Airbus A380 has arrived at Manchester Airport – making the city the first regional location to welcome the superjumbo.
The airport has put in more than 10 million pounds (nearly 16 million USD) over the past two years in preparation for the arrival, with Emirates now set to offer a daily service from the north of England to Dubai.
Emirates currently operates 12 A380 aircrafts, and confirmed at Berlin Air Show in June it had ordered another 32 from Airbus.
Maurice Flanagan, executive vice chairman of Emirates Airlines, said in Manchester this morning, “as a result of our announcement in Berlin, we have had enquiries from more than twenty airports across the world, asking whether Emirates would fly the A380 to their airports.”
