Chennai based airline, Paramount Airways shut down its operations in August, 2010. Founded in October 2005, it was a domestic airline operating scheduled flights to top business and leisure destinations across India including Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ahmadabad, Pune, and Kolkata to name a few. With headquarters in Chennai, Paramount Airways had its hub at Chennai International Airport. Winner of "Arch of Europe" award and "Award of Excellence," the Paramount Airways fleet consisted of Embraer E170s, and was the first airline in India to operate this aircraft. The airline ceased operations because legal issues arose between Paramount Airways and the lessors of their Embraer aircraft.
