Founded as Aerolineas del Sur, Air Comet Chile was an airline based in Santiago, Chile. With its main base in Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, the airline used to provide domestic passenger services to Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas.
The airline was founded in 2004 as Aerolíneas del Sur by Grupo Marsans and it started operations in December 2004, after receiving approval from the Chilean civil aviation authorities in November 2004. Aerolineas del Sur was renamed as Air Comet Chile in Fourth Quarter of 2007 and it started operations as the sister airlines of the Spanish airline Air Comet. The airline ceased operation on October 31, 2008 and filled for bankruptcy protection on December 18, 2008. Some of Air Comet Chile airplanes operate now by Aerolinea Principal.
