Vancouver is a beautiful town with lots to do. There's great restaurants in downtown and a short distance away is the ferry to Vancouver Island. My wife and I stayed in Vancouver 2 nights and spent the rest of our trip on Vancouver Island. The ferry ride was about 2 hours from Vancouver to Naiomi. We traveled to Ucluelet and Tofino on the west coast, about a 3 hour drive, and stayed at the Hyphocus Inn in Ucluelet. It's the most beautiful Bed & Breakfast run by a nice family. There's great hiking in the rain forest and we took a wildlife cruise where we saw whales, a black bear and bald eagles. There were also people surfing and kayaking, but we didn't go in the water. For us it was too cold, even in the summer. For any seafood lovers out there, this is a great place to go. The fishing business is alive up there and fresh salmon and halibut are caught daily and can be found on the menus of local restaurants. Vancouver Island is a great vacation spot for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing and romantic getaway. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to go to Victoria, which is supposed to be beautiful. There is no road access along the western coast of the island so the drive would have been about 5 hours from where we were to Victoria. But we definitely have a reason to go back again some day. Warning to US travelers: The US dollar is weaker than the Canadian dollar right now. We traveled in July of 2011. On top of that, basic goods like food and gas cost much more there. We paid $18 for fish and chips and $11 for a burrito. For the same dishes, the price would be half of that back home. So plan on spending more than you anticipated on a trip to Canada.

Visited Vancouver on Canada day. Stayed for 4 days in downtown area(Robson st.).Loved it a lot! Shops ,cafe, restaurants did work until very late. It feels,that town is very yang.Used public transportation. Very convenient.If you are going to use it,the great deal is "Day Pass"(cost is $9.00 for whole day for all kind of transportation).Walked until midnight and felt absolutely safe. It is kids of al ages and pets friendly place.Very green,clean,panoramic views are spectacular .You should go and see by yourself.
