- Using Public Transportation : In case you are planning to use public transportation at the destination you’re visiting, we strongly urge you to research the public transportation of the area and find out as much about it as you can. You can also contact the hotel ahead of time and find out more about it from the concierge.Using public transportation is a major cost saving step, but it’s also a great way to indulge in the local flavor and get yourself acquainted with the community and learn more about the destination you’re visiting.
- In case you plan to use the subways and buses, consider buying a multi-day pass, if one is offered.
- Watch out for Freebies : When visiting a destination, be sure your itinerary is packed with free sightseeing options. Every destination has places like parks and attractions that are free. Take a self guided tour, or explore the city, beaches, or open markets. Often these activities present a great way to not only learn more about the destination you’re visiting, you’ll also save extra money, which could be used to splurge on something else. Some pointers for freebies:
- Visit city parks

- Take a stroll around the shopping districts
- Window shop
- Find out if there are local open or outdoor markets
- Partake in Happy Hour : Of course everyone enjoys indulging in luxury and dining at a nice restaurant. But, more often than not, those fine dining restaurants also offer food at cheaper or discounted rates at special times of the day, like Happy Hour.
