Nassau offers visitors insight into Nassau’s glorious past through various exhibits at one of many choice museums.
Pirate Museum: The interactive Pirate Attraction is located in the heart of downtown Nassau. The museum is full of multimedia pirate experiences, complete with a soundtrack of raucous piratical theatrics. The exhibit opened in 1998, is a world-class interactive experience. The Pirates of Nassau Museum gives travelers an opportunity to experience a slice of authentic Bahamian history.
Pompey Museum: The museum houses exhibits dedicated to the African experience in The Bahamas. Visitors can view artifacts excavated and also various objects of African origin. Some the most popular exhibits at the museum include articles and reproductions of Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century letters.
Bahamas Historical Society Museum: in Nassau has displays depicting Bahamas history from the past to the present. The museum is located on the corner of Shirley Street and Elizabeth Avenue. The collection includes historical, anthropological and archaeological artifacts, and covers more than 500 years of Bahamian history.

Cable Beach: located three miles west of downtown Nassau is notable for its calm water and fine white sand. This is the destination's primary beach, with several major hotels lining the soft sandy beaches. Whether you choose to relax on the sand and soak up the sun or choose to spend your time shopping for various local items, Cable Beach is far from disappointing. Those interested in water sports can also find plenty of choices, from surfing, wind surfing, snorkeling and more.
Fort Fincastle: overlooks the town from Bennett’s Hill and was built by Lord Dunmore, who named it after his second title, Viscount Fincast. This is one of few historic forts remaining in Nassau. The basic fort is circular, with an extension that has been compared to a bow of a ship. There are a few old cannons on the site. The fort boasts spectacular views from its 126-foot water tower and lighthouse.
Straw Market: is a market specializing in straw products, straw baskets, mats, hats and more, all handmade. The famous Straw Market in the Bahamas in Nassau is one of the largest in the world, and definitely the largest in the Bahamas. The Straw Market of Nassau provides visitors an excellent chance to shop and buy unique handmade goods.

* All Americans traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.
* U.S. citizens do not need to obtain visas to visit Nassau and may enter using a passport.
* U.S. citizens planning on an extended stay of several months may be asked by immigration authorities to provide proof or evidence of financial solvency upon entry to Nassau.
For Canadian Citizens:
* A valid Canadian passport should be carried for all visits outside Canada.
* The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected return to Canada.
* Canadians travelling on a direct flight are only required to be in possession of valid official photo identification and proof of citizenship for trips to the Nassau up to 21 days.
* An onward or return ticket, accommodation information and proof of sufficient funds are also required.
This requirement applies to all travelers, regardless of age, including children.
