Charlotte has several world class museums that provide insight into the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art: houses one of the South's most important 20th century European collections. The exhibits at the museum are dedicated to the celebration and analysis of the strongest aspects of mid-century modernism as reflected in the holdings of the Bechtler collection.
Carolinas Aviation Museum: Founded in 1992 by Floyd & Lois Wilson, the Carolinas Aviation Museum displays a collection of over 50 aircrafts and a wealth of smaller historic items related to aviation in North & South Carolina. The museum also operates a small group of flying historic aircraft.
Mint Museum of Art: Today it features permanent and visiting exhibits with noted collections of American art, pre-Columbian art, American and European ceramics, American decorative arts, historic costumes and accessories, as well as African art, Asian art, historic maps, contemporary art and photography.

Afro-American Cultural Center: celebrates African-American culture dating back 35 years and serves as a community epicenter for music, dance, theater, visual art, film, arts education programs, literature and community outreach.
Historic Rosedale Plantation: Originally part of a 911 acre plantation, Rosedale was built in 1815 by Archibald Frew. Rosedale is one of the finest examples of Federal period architecture in North Carolina and is noted for its faux grained woodwork and the original French wallpaper in three rooms. The gardens and grounds of Rosedale are a treasure in their own right and perfect for a leisurely walk.
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden: is a botanical garden located on 380 acres of Rolling Meadows, woodlands and lakefront property. It includes large manicured gardens, natural surrounding areas, including a woodland trail, sparkling fountains and an Orchid Conservatory. Although a relatively new facility, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden has a very old historical connection.
