| One of the most colorful Pakistani cities, Peshawar is the capital city of North West Frontier Province. Known as the land of pathans, the city has a rich history and the ancient records of the city takes us back to some 2000 years ago, when Kushans were ruling the area. Kushans shifted their capital to Peshawar from Pushkalavati, which is 30 kilometres north of Peshawar. The city is mainly divided into old Peshawar with its old houses and historical monuments and new Peshawar possessing many concrete structures, hotels and railway line.
Historic buffs mainly get attracted to the old Peshawar for its colorful bazaars and historic monuments. Some of the must see attractions in the city include Forest Museum, Shahi Bagh, Jinnah Park and Tatara Park. Home to some of the bustling bazaars, Peshawar offers a great shopping experience. The Qissa Khawani Bazaar is an interesting place to visit. Some of the other bazaars in the city include Khyber Bazaar, Bird Bazaar, Meena Bazaar and Jewellery Bazaar. With so many things to see and do, Peshawar is definitely a destination you must visit once in a lifetime.
