The island of Huahine lies 170km north west of Papeete and is the most traditional of the Society Islands. Huahine (HUH) is made up of two main islands; Huahine Nui to the north and Huahine Iti to the south. The two islands are are joined by a narrow isthmus and are enclosed within a neckalce of coral. Huahine is known for its laid-back atmosphere, a couple of small beach resorts, villages and more than 50 excavated marae sites that are worth a trip. The main attraction of Huahine is the seaside town of Fare. There is a small beach extending north of Fare Town and the harbor wall here is an ideal place to enjoy a pleasant stroll. North of Fare town lies one of the most interesting and rich archaeological areas in the South Pacific.

Outdoor lovers can visit the fish parks, authentic fishermen villages or enjoy nice walks in magnificent gardens. Surfers will enjoy the excellent surf sites while divers can discover the underwater wildlife. If you are coming here in October, don't miss the Hawaiki Nui Va’a race, the biggest canoe race of the South Pacific, which starts from Huahine. After a tour of the island go shopping or enjoy eating out at one of the island's restaurants.
