Covenant House Youth Learn Vocational Skills for a Brighter Future
The Covenant House is dedicated to rescuing homeless youth from the street and providing them with shelter, food, clothing, and other valuable services they need to start a new life.
CheapOair is proud to partner with Covenant House in their endeavors to help these young adults learn valuable skills that can translate into future job opportunities.
CheapOair is comprised of dedicated travel professionals with experience in consumer travel and tourism. Together, these travel professionals shape the vision of CheapOair to provide a wide selection of travel products and services for today’s web savvy traveler. On September 8, 2009, CheapOair began the first in a series of 6-week long Agent Training Programs to share this knowledge and expertise with Covenant House youth.
The goal of the program is to teach the entry level basics needed to become a travel professional. The program is two days a week, 4 hours each day, and focuses on understanding and learning the computer reservation system used by travel agents to book airline, hotel and car reservations for customers. Classes will be conducted at the Covenant House with field trips to CheapOair to shadow travel agents for first hand exposure.
At the end of the 6-week program, graduating students will have the skills needed to apply for travel agent internships and positions at CheapOair and throughout the industry.
